QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE ABOUT BIG FANS....

What's the big deal
about these big fans?

It took ten years for the inventor, Walter Boyd, to create these High Volume, Low Speed Fans. The blade design helps to produce a tremendous amount of airflow for a very small amount of electricity usage....as low as 4-7 amps per fan! The fans are in demand in a number of industries for a green solution, offering you the option of turning off the HVAC on many days of the year, or heaters in the winter. In summer, runs the fans in reverse to pull the cooler air off the floor and up.....because you cannot expect to blow warm air down on people at high speeds to cool them....it'll just dry them out and make them uncomfortable. In winter, use the fans to draw the warm air off the ceiling in the morning and distribute that warmth to working areas right away, instead of using the heaters! Even using the fans in reverse, you should be able to drop your temperature inside from outside up to 15 degrees!

Wait a second....that's what an air conditioner is supposed to do!

So how many cfm's can I expect?

Up to 376000 cfm per fan! If your location is outfitted with the right number of fans for the square footage, you will swear that the air conditioning is on when you walk into the facility! So much air, we expect the normal range to de-stratify the air top to bottom, maintain a good temp, we expect you will turn it to about 3 or 4 out of 10 to maintain.

That sounds like a lot of air, will I
need all of those cfm's?

Chances are you will never turn them all the way up as the fans will blow everything out the door! We are not aware of anyone who has ever turned them all the way up, save maybe a facility looking to dry the floors quickly. Our cfm is rated the right way, so you get what is expected!

I see the fans are available in
forward or reverse, why is that?

Remote Switch has
REV / OFF / FWD setting
and 1-10 speed control

Probably the most important feature, the reversing feature allows you choices of how to blow the air as you wish, depending on time of day or season. Buying a one direction fan is automatically limiting in its abilities. Ask any HVAC or heater salesperson which is better, and they will always tell you that you need the choice of blowing the air up and down. Why limit yourself with only one direction? We represent the original inventor, and he wouldn't have it any other way!

We sell the RIGHT fans, with the right features, with more included in the fan price!

Are the big fans good for
manufacturing facilities?

Most definitely, as well as for retail stores, kitchen cabinet or door and window manufacturing facilities, truss plants, non-cooled warehouses, metal and rack supported buildings, line sheds, distribution centers, showrooms, gymnasiums, riding arenas, dairy farms, backrooms and more! And talk about a conversation piece! We even have colored blades available to match school colors, theme graphics and to meet your imagination!

What comes with the big fans?

A bunch of stuff.....mounting brackets (I beam or Glue Lam, your choice), pivot bracket to mount the fan on a slope and still allow the fan to be plumb, guy wires (15' x 4), remote switch, input filter (to help prevent the variable frequency drive from ever disturbing anything like sensormatic security equipment, cash registers, computers, etc..... and even most of the wiring you will need to hook it up! We sell it right!

What else is available?

Colored blades, extension tubes to drop the fan from a high ceiling, more wiring if needed, fantastic installation instructions, custom mounting brackets, toll-free installation assistance, and tell us more we can do for you!

What voltage is available?

Your choice of 120V, 240V or 480V, single and three phase motors, all priced the same! The 240V three phase motors use the least amount of electricity.

What wiring is used to wire the fans?

The fans require stranded copper, known as THHN wire, to wire the fans. You cannot use any solid core copper or romex house wire at all. Motors and Variable Frequency Drives require stranded copper wire to pull in that electrical field or voltage right into the inside of the wire core where it belongs.

So about the main components...

The fans are a 6 blade type shown in the pictures above. We started with the ten blade fans we show above also, but they have been cleared out. By going with wider blades and fewer blades, we achieved the same cfm's, and took some cost out of the fan and offer these at great pricing as a result.

The Motor Control Panel (or controller box) and two-knob Remote Switch included are shown below.

You mentioned wiring?

Surprisingly, we found licensed electricians who don't follow instructions. As a result, we made a proactive move to include 2 out of the 3 legs of wiring with the fans to take away the guesswork. First, you get shielded cable like this to run from the controller box to fan (25'), and controller box to Remote Switch (100') too.  Included in fan price. You can add more wiring to the remote switch leg if you wish, up to 500' total.

Shielded cable eliminates the need for metal conduit, as there is a foil wrapping around the inside insulated stranded copper wires, which helps to ground any short which might occur from a power surge such as the conduit would normally do.

It is tremendously important to note the Motor Control Panel (controller box) is to be mounted on the ceiling, outside of the blades, and within no more than 25' of the motor. This does a number of things...like reducing any harmonics present, maintaining the silent feature of the fan, controlling voltage stray outside of the wiring used, protecting the motor leads, and therefore lengthening the lifespan of the motor even more. No maintenance is needed for this control panel. Just use the Remote Switch (two-knob box shown below) to control the speed of the fan, and direction (forward or reverse). Line reactors are available for dirty electricity areas or areas out of the country.

This leaves the wiring from main panel to controller box as the only wiring you need to make available (THHN wire), because we are not sure how much you will need. And remember, all wires for various fans are separate circuits, should you order multiple fans. There is also an added benefit to this so you can control each "zone" or area of your store or warehouse separately for efficiency and more savings!

Can you offer installation?
Is installation difficult?

Of course! We can get a quote to you anytime, wherever you are! Very easily installed, the fans go up in just a few hours.

What else can you mention that allows me more value?

The fans are only about $50-$100 difference between each size (2' increments in diameter), so, the bigger the better value! Use the largest you can for the most cfm's and choices!

How quickly can the big fans ship?

When you want them to!

Can you send me a recommended
fan layout and quote?

Of course! Just call us with details or send us your overhead plan using email above in pdf or autocad dwg file. Please note obstacles if any, rack and machine heights and locations, ceiling heights, doors, windows, roof vent locations, etc., and we'll be glad to offer a professional review and recommendation!

I see you have a 6 foot wall, ceiling or pole mount fan too?

Yes, we have a 6 foot diameter caged fan known to throw air out 100 feet, in a path 20 feet wide!. Great for cash register areas, manufacturing facilities with concentrated worker areas, and more!

People specifically looking for a roll-around floor fan will find this fan is better since it is mounted higher. The wall/ceiling/pole mount fans are much more effective than fans mounted on casters since they are above both obstacles and random airflows coming in from open doors which affects caster mounted fans' airflow design and effectiveness.

Do the fans really provide
so much air?

The last customer installed sent a note back.....
".....I am shocked at how well these work....and how much air they put out!"
So much, you too will be blown away!
